Helpful, Easy, Affordable: Canoeing and Kayaking on the Lakes
SUMMER 2018 – If you’ve never been canoeing or kayaking, summer is the best time to try it. For one thing, it’s an activity available to absolutely everyone regardless of fitness. If you’re in good shape, you can paddle harder and play with the waves. If you want something lighter, then choose a lake with a perfectly smooth water surface. Secondly, a kayak or canoe gives you a sense of complete freedom and contact with nature. Finally, there are some shores that are only accessible from the water, so a kayak or canoe can take you to the most amazing and untouched by man places. From the middle of Lake Molveno, for example, there are unique views of the Brenta Dolomites. The rocky shore of Lake Garda, you can admire the waterfall of Ponale. The wooded shores of Lake Levico are also particularly good from the water. Trentino lakes are so different, but all of them are good for outdoor activities.
LAKES CALDONAZZO AND LEVICO
These two beautiful mountain lakes are only a half-hour drive from Trento and both were again awarded the Blue Flag in 2018 for their clean water and beaches and high level of service. Grab your paddles, get in your kayak or canoe and paddle toward the woods to enjoy the perfect quietness and blend in with nature.
GARDA LAKE.
There is no better way to explore the shores of Lake Garda than by canoe or kayak. To admire the panoramas in peace, choose to go at a time when the wind slackens and the water surface is flatter. And if you want something hotter, you’ll love the water slalom course on the Sarka River at Lido di Arco.
LAKE MOLVENO
According to Legambiente and the Italian Touring Club, Lake Molveno is “the most beautiful lake in Italy”. These words are enough to make you want to canoe or kayak here, isn’t it? And if you add the fact that the lake offers a magnificent view of the Brenta Dolomites, there should be no doubt at all.
LEADRO LAKE.
The best place to canoe or kayak on Lake Ledro is Molina. For beginners and leisure paddlers, it’s advisable to paddle from sunrise to 11am or from 5pm to sunset when there is little or no wind and the water is almost perfect. The magnificent Garda is only a few kilometers away.
LAKE OF IDRO
This lake is located on the border of Trentino and Lombardy and is famous for the excellent weather conditions until the fall. It is surrounded by woods and mountains, and is very popular with kayakers and canoeists. You can stop for a picnic at any of the wild, secluded beaches.
